Ravindra Svarupa Dasa

Ravindra Svarupa Dasa received a BA in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania in 1966 and a Ph.D. in Religion from Temple University in 1980. In 1971 he became an initiated disciple of Srila Prabhupada as well as president of ISKCON’s Philadelphia temple. In 1987 he was elected to ISKCON’s Governing Body Commission and serves as an initiating guru.

He has also served as a writer, lecturer and researcher with ISKCON’s Bhaktivedanta Institute and as a writer and editor for Back to Godhead magazine. Ravindra Svarupa Dasa has published a number of articles about Gaudiya Vaishnava philosophy and about ISKCON. Articles include “Radha, Krishna, Chaitanya: The Inner Dialectic of the Divine Relativity” published in the Journal of Vaishnava Studies; “Bringing the Lord’s Song to a Strange Land: Srila Prabhupada’s Strategy of ‘Cultural Conquest’ and Its Prospects” published in the anthology The Hare Krishna Movement: Forty Years of Chant and Change, as well as “Bad Things Happen to Good People?” and “Immortal Longings” both published in Veda: Secrets From the East. The Bhaktivedanta Book Trust has also published a selection of Ravindra Svarupa Dasa’s Back to Godhead articles under the title Endless Love.

He is married and has three children and two grandchildren.
